Zippy - Jan 1994 to April 2012

Today I made the very difficult decision to let Zippy go to the bridge. Run free Small Dog - you have been well and truly loved. Zip made many friends over the course of the 6-1/2 years he lived with me, and I felt blessed to have many adventures together. Adopting him at 11 years old I thought surely we might only have a year or two together. Little did I know it would be almost seven.

This photo here was taken on a walk with Julie. He did loves him some walkies. I will miss him something awful. I already do. Though blurry, this is my absolute favorite picture of him. It captures his essence:

Safe journeys, Smallness, until we meet again.

Oh Laura, I am so sorry. To have almost seven years with a dog that you adopted at 11 is incredible. How lucky you were to have each other. Run free, Zippy!

Sweet Dreams, Small Dog. You have been well loved and will be deeply missed, even by those of us who have never met you but were entertained by your adventures from afar.

I'm so sorry Laura. Peace and comfort to you.

Thank you all so much. Yes, his adventures have touched many - a thought that would make him very happy. There used to be this little girl up the street. She'd come over after school and knock on my door. When I'd open it, she'd say, "Can Zippy come out and play?"

Those little dogs sure do leave a big print on our hearts. Hugs to you....

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my
heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with
a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my
heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they
are."

Thank you all. I wish I could respond to every comment, but mostly I'm just sort of trying to hold it together every chance I get. I'm pretty sure he would have been thrilled to know that his adventures touched so many people.

I am so sorry for your loss Laura. I hate when I see this on blogs etc lately. Seems so many are losing their older dogs lately. I've said it before many times, but it just isn't fair that dogs have such short lifespans compared with their owners.
I really feel for you Laura.

Thank you all. I want to write up something more thorough and fitting for him, but it's going to be a few days/weeks before I can.
